LMCC feels it's important to support local art communities. Art not only enriches our communities but also promotes cultural understanding and inclusivity, providing a bridge to the unification of people from all backgrounds.
One such art community that LMCC strongly supports, is the HILLTOP Artists. The artists from the Hilltop Art Community designed and produce the Dr Claudia Thomas Community Service award candy dishes for LMCC's Annual Gala Event.
Three of our LMCC Board Members, Mary Moss, Kathy Lanning, and Kimi Ginn recently attended the Better Futures Fundraising Luncheon in support of the HILLTOP Artists.
The Lakewood Chamber of Commerce awarded LMCC President, Mary Moss, with The 2023-24 Public Servant of the Year for "Tirelessly devoting her time, experience, and efforts to promote and improve the quality of life in our community." Well done Mary! We are so proud of you!
A big thank you to our LMCC Board Member, Kimi Ginn(pictured on the left) for graciously accepting the Lakewood Chamber of Commerce, 2023-24 Public Servant of the Year award on behalf of Mary Moss.
Kimi Ginn was honored with the first pitch at Cheney Stadium for her and her grandfather's contribution of writing the theme song "Go Giants Go"! Nice play, Kimi! Watch the video to hear a cool piece of Cheney Stadium- Giants' History!
The Lakewood Multicultural Coalition (LMCC) recognizes the importance of acknowledging and
commemorating the exciting establishment of our nation’s newest National Holiday
JUNETEENTH.
Juneteenth is the confirmation of the intentional wrongful deletion of a very historical fact that
denied slaves living in Texas the “good news” of the 1863 Emancipation Proclamation and the
beginning of ending slavery in the United States of America.
General Order #3 was delivered by Union Major Gordon Granger on June 19, 1865, in Galveston,
Texas finally freed slaves in the state of Texas. This news came two years after the Emancipation
Proclamation.
It is important to convey that with the launch of the Juneteenth Holiday, all citizens of the United States
should embrace this national holiday with a sense of dedication to our national motto so
continually stated in the last few words of our nation’s Pledge of Allegiance.
… WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL."
